April is officially here, and with it comes the start of Earth Month. This is a time to reflect on our impact and take action for a cleaner planet. At our core, we believe that small actions, such as choosing a specific pack of batteries, can lead to monumental change. That's why we are thrilled to kick off our continued partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation today, keeping the momentum of reforestation growing all month long.
Before we dive into how you can help us plant even more trees this year, let's take a look at the incredible impact you helped us make in 2025.
Last year, our community rallied together for the Bootleg Fire Restoration and Resilience Project in Oregon. The Bootleg Fire of 2021 was devastating, scorching over 413,000 acres in the Klamath Falls Basin.
Thanks to your support, we successfully planted 37,283 trees, effectively restoring 125 acres of forest. We didn't just plant any trees; we planted a resilient mix of Ponderosa pine, lodgepole pine, Western larch, and white fir.
These specific species are the "architects" of the forest. As they grow, they reform the forest canopy, which is essential for local wildlife. Most notably, these trees provide nesting grounds for majestic bald eagles.
While these saplings are small now, their future is bright. Over the next 40 years, the trees we planted together are estimated to:
We're keeping the tradition alive for 2026! From April 1st through May 31st, we are partnering with Energizer to make going green even easier and more affordable.
When you stock up on power, you're also powering reforestation.
While planting trees helps our future, recycling protects our present. Many of the devices we use every day contain materials that simply don't belong in a landfill. When batteries or electronics are thrown in the trash, they can leak heavy metals like lead, mercury, and cadmium into the soil and groundwater.
Recycling isn't just about preventing harm; it's about reclaiming value. Many components in old batteries and tech can be harvested to create new products, reducing the need for destructive mining.
We aim to be your one-stop shop for keeping "the bad stuff" out of the environment. You can bring the following items to your local Batteries Plus:

Beyond recycling and planting trees, here are a few more ways to live sustainably this month:
Reforestation is a marathon, not a sprint. While a sapling might only be a few inches tall today, it takes about 10 to 20 years for a forest to reach a stage where it begins to feel like a "woods" again, and up to 40-50 years to reach full maturity.
Every time you shop with Batteries Plus or use our services during Earth Month, you help us accelerate this growth. Whether you are upgrading your home's efficiency or recycling old tech, your choices have an impact.

A: Through our partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, a portion of the proceeds from every eligible Energizer bulk pack sold during the promotional period goes directly toward reforestation projects in high-need areas.
A: While last year focused on the Bootleg Fire in Oregon, our 2026 efforts support various Arbor Day Foundation projects aimed at restoring forest canopies and critical wildlife habitats across the United States.
A: We are committed to making a positive impact beyond reforestation. We partner with various organizations to provide essential power and lighting solutions where they are needed most. You can learn more about our community initiatives on our Power with Purpose page.
A: Yes! We encourage all our customers to bring in their spent lead-acid, nickel-cadmium, and other household batteries for responsible recycling to help keep our environment clean.
