A large number of businesses rely on Batteries Plus for their power and lighting needs. But for many, the relationship shouldn't end at the point of sale. We are one of the nation's largest recyclers, processing over 50 million pounds of batteries and lighting components every year.
For a business, recycling isn't just about "going green". It's about managing liability, meeting legal requirements, and streamlining facility operations.
If your business treats spent batteries and bulbs as regular trash, you're sitting on a significant risk.
Recycling often feels like a logistical nightmare for facility managers. Batteries Plus is designed to solve the biggest "pain points" of commercial recycling:
Most industrial recyclers are located in remote industrial zones. With over 700 locations nationwide, Batteries Plus is likely just minutes from your job site or office. Plus, we offer night and weekend hours, so you aren't restricted to a 9-to-5 weekday window.
We provide the necessary documentation—ranging from notices of processing to formal Certificates of Recycling—to verify that your materials were handled by EPA-approved processors in accordance with federal and state laws.
Transporting this material can be difficult and is regulated. We can tailor a program to support your business recycling needs, scaling from mail-back kits to coordination of pallet pickups.
We are your one-stop shop for more than just batteries. We provide compliant, specialized recycling for the complex chemistries and materials—including light bulbs and electronics—that you can't simply throw in the trash:
Many of our stores also accept small portable electronics, including:
Note: Accepted materials and fees vary by location due to state regulations.

A: Fees are determined by item type, quantity, and local state regulations. While some items (like lead-acid batteries) may have scrap value that offsets costs, others (like fluorescent tubes or certain electronics) typically carry a recycling fee. Your local store can provide a clear cost breakdown for your specific volume.

A: Generally, we do not accept "large" electronics like desktop monitors (CRTs), televisions, or kitchen appliances. We focus on portable, small-scale electronics. It is always best to call your local store to confirm their specific intake capabilities. One common thing we do not accept is electronic vaping devices.
A: Yes. For safety and to prevent short circuits (especially with Lithium and high-voltage batteries), please tape the terminals with clear packing or electrical tape. This is a DOT requirement for the safe transport of batteries.
