Patient Stories

Beckett's Story

Even at 2 years old, Beckett was a very verbal child, able to describe how he felt. And how he felt was dizzy. Beckett was ultimately diagnosed with ATRT, an aggressive form of brain cancer.

Beckett was referred to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital® and received treatment. He finished treatment in time to be back home in Michigan for Thanksgiving of 2023 with his beloved older siblings. And they have gratitude for St. Jude. "They're changing people's lives here.".

Beckett is smart and happy-go-lucky. He enjoys construction vehicles and schoolwork, like reading and addition, but his very favorite things are Monster Jam® and playing with his monster trucks.

Ashtyn's Story

Ashtyn is an outgoing, happy girl who loves cheering, dancing, singing, drawing and coloring. In April of 2018, Ashtyn was wobbly and dizzy during cheer practice. Ashtyn's parents learned that Ashtyn had a rare type of brain cancer called medulloblastoma.

Ashtyn's oncologist referred her to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital®, where she received treatment. Ashtyn is finished with treatment, doing well and returns to St. Jude for regular scans.

Colton's Story

"I was playing basketball, and it felt like a bug flew in my ear," recalled Colton. "Like, it was weird. It felt like my ear was underwater." When the feeling didn't go away, a doctor found a tumor blocking his eustachian tube. Colton was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a soft tissue cancer.

Colton received treatment at St. Jude. He said St. Jude is "the best place that you don't want to be. They take care of you."

Artistic and athletic, Colton is a polite and confident kid who wears a suit on the first day of every school year to put his best foot forward with his teachers. He loves animals and missed his dog, Dakota, a lot while at St. Jude, but now he is finished with treatment and back at home with his family.
